Very tasty and great ambiance. I was impressed by their oysters and jerk crab. A little too expensive though for some plates and you have to make a reservation well in advance.

Un delice sur toute la ligne ! Je recommande sans hesitation ! Les couteaux de mer a eux seuls valent le deplacement !

Lives up to the hype

This was our anniversary dinner. We drove 6.5 hours from Burlington Ontario to have dinner here. Completely by chance, we happened to meet Chef Chuck Hughes the day before (Friday). We walked by, wanting to take our photo outside the restaurant and he was standing there in the doorway. He was very friendly and talkative. It was truly the highlight of our mini-vacation and totally unexpected. The food was amazing. The service was good and fast. The restaurant was busy and loud. The music was great. Overall, the experience, was fast paced and exciting. If you're looking for a long, slow dinner, don't come here. If you're looking for good food and a fast paced atmosphere with a rockin' kitchen and staff to match, this is the place for you!

Absolument exquis!

MIAM!

Disappointed!

I love Chuck Hughes and always use his recipes from the Food Network so I was super pumped to come here with my boyfriend our last trip to Montreal. Not sure if my expectations were too high, but I was dissappointed with the food. We ordered the lobster poutine and as far as poutine went it wasn't that great. The fries were undercooked and the gravy was ok. My entree was halibut and was kind of greasy. Our waitress, the restaurant itself and the drink of the day was great but everything else was just meh. Not sure I would come back here, especailly with the price tag.

Excellent atmosphere, food, service

On business in Montreal alone, I decided to eat at Garde Manger based on several great reviews. It didn't disappoint - the service was excellent, the food was stellar and the atmosphere was laid-back yet electric. You can't have a bad meal or a bad time here. Just not possible. Must visit for anyone under 50.

Garde Manger is one of those hidden local restaurants in one of the busiest cities in Canada. It is well worth the time and and money (not too pricey) especially if you are going to go for celebrations. Trust me on this, you well be amazed with the service and food.

Best place, best food, best service. I had the best tomato salad I have ever had. Who thought a deep fried mars bar could be SO good?! Everything was amazing. If you want a quieter atmosphere go early in the evening, since the music and chatter gets louder progressively. Chuck is the best chef. The restaurant is so busy and yet does not even have its name on the building. Be aware of that if you are gong there for the first time.
