Best shawarma in Ottawa, hands down. I refuse to eat shawarma anywhere else, it just does not compare. Constantly fresh, massive portions that can feed you several meals, amazzzzing!
Been going there for over 15 years and it's the best tasting, value and quantity anywhere.
Best shawarma in the country! Friendly service. Great food. Not too pricey for a good meal - large size plates filled with scrumptiousness!
Best shawarma in town. As authentic as you'll get in Ottawa. Written by an ethnic Lebanese.
My mouth is watering as I write this review! Shawarma Palace is by far the best Lebanese Restaurant I have ever been to. I moved to Ottawa from Montreal recently and there is nothing that even compares to this place in Montreal. Everything is so fresh and tasty...I could eat it every week! Only downside is the mega line up every time I go....but it's always worth the wait.
I make sure to eat here every time I'm in Ottawa. I've never had a shawarma plate that even comes close to what they serve here. The shawarma wraps are also great. The garlic potatoes are also MUST have.
I decided to try out this place on Rideau St after reading all the positive reviews on the place, some even saying it was the best place in the city for Shawarma. Well, I'll start off by saying those people were most likely visiting Shawarma Palace after a night out at the bar. Because the food wasn't all that great, the service was rushed (felt like the McD of shawarma places) and the atmosphere... Well the place has seen better days. The prices were average, pretty much the same price you'd pay anywhere in town for Shawarma pita or platter. While I can't comment first hand on the serving sizes (as I only ordered pitas), the people who had ordered platters seemed to have a plate loaded with food. The pitas were pretty small, and at a price of 6.25$ each, I was expecting a little more to be honest. I've visited other establishments that offered cheaper prices and bigger pitas. Taste-wise, the chicken Shawarma pita was okay, they loaded it with sauce which ended up making the last few bites extremely soggy and a bit hard on the taste buds. The beef Shawarma pita I really did not enjoy. I'm not sure if it was the combination of spices they used on the meat itself, but I just couldn't get through it, not even half. The garlic potatoes were great, I'll give them that. Make sure to get the garlic sauce drenched on top of them, delicious. All in all, it was an okay meal. Might be better suited to those looking for something a little more exotic than pizza after a booze-filled evening.
Best chicken platter in ottawa! Love the potatotes, garlic sauce, rice. Friendly service. Not sure if they are opened 24/7 but I always go very late at night (around 1-2 am) and it is always packed!
ya, it was nice, only thing is the way it is served...not good...Owner of this rest. needs to take care
Food was great...and environment was calm wen i went...friendly and had a good time overall...i was happy!
By far the best Chicken and Beef Shawarma we have! 1.I love the fact as an an example salad is always being changing..it happens right in front of me once or even twice when its packed busy. 2.All this time the Palace's product in my eyes has the most consistent taste in food that keeps me coming. On the flip side at times it may be hard to get a table so it would be worth your while to take out every now and than. 3. Fast Service... The line of customers when you walk in may be somewhat intimidating at first but they know how move it... For the most part been going there for over 10 years and whether I am alone or with a party its always great to be there and see the faces of friends, Ottawa Locals and most importantly to enjoy a healthy meal for a healthy price. Oh yeah...For those that dont know they have a newly renovated place on Carling near Pincrest across from the Coliseum..
This is the best shawarma place in Ottawa. I've been going here for the last 10 years and havent' found a place in Ottawa that comes even close. I heart Shawarma Palace.
go for the food. it's the best lebanese sandwiches and platters i've ever had anywhere. and being of leb descent, i know i've eaten in 100's of different leb restaurants all over the world and this one makes the best shawarma's going. HOWEVER!!! a few things need to be said as caveat emptor. 1) it is cafeteria style service. so reservations, forget about it. first come first serve. and the place is packed day and night. which gives it a kinda of a hustle bustle atmosphere. which is ok cause some places seem so dead they are too boring. 2) the place is kinda dirty and dumpy. considering this restaurant is probably one of the top earning leb food businesses in the city they should really try to invest some of that money back into making the place cleaner and brighter for the benefit of their patrons and self respect. 3) they really need to get someone on the cash who is a little bit pleasant to look at and be served by. or give a major attitude adjustment to the people who work their now. cause let me tell you they are miserable. you can almost feel the contempt oozing out of them for their customers. not good dude. anyways, for the benefit of your belly, don't let those warnings stop you from eating their. 100's and 100s if not more, eat their everyday for one reason and one reason only, the food is awesome. i just wish the owner would show a little more interest in cleaning up the place and giving friendlier service. peace out.
This place is amazing! The food is sooo good.. My family and I eat untill we feel as though wewill pop! I go there so often the staff laughs and says they should mak a discount card for our family! The staff is really nice with a rare few exceptions. If you consider how busy they are and the restriction for space then you might as well say that they have amazing customer service skills! They are soooooo busy all the time but rust me the wait in line or for a able is well worth the wait!
I don't remember the exact date, but I studied @ LCB Ottawa and I LOVED this place! I still miss it! Service was friendly, chicken kebab and chicken shawarma sandwiches were AMAZING! Would come here for late-night snacks and with my friends in the day-time! I miss this place sooo much! :)
Best Shawarma place in Ottawa, period. Even taxi drivers will tell you that much. Don't miss this place if you are visiting or live in Ottawa. Happy eating!
Good food, but for the amount of customers they receive the place is small. Felt crowded as we were eating due to huge lineup of people waiting to be served.
I have eaten at many different shawarma places in Ottawa and Shawarma Palace does indeed make good food but the service is disappointing. I called and made reservations for a party of 15 for 7pm. I arrived there quarter to 7 but there was no table set up and the place was packed. There website advertises that they take reservations but in reality they don't take it seriously. In fact, a guy working there said and I quote, "We don't take reservations" and I said well then you shouldn't advertise it on your website. Luckily, the lady I spoke to earlier on the phone was there. Then when they finally set up a table for us, they came by and rudely demanding to know when will all your guests arrive so they can place the order because we are tying up the tables since they are busy. So, they have poor customer service skills but if all you care about is the food then it is great. I must say, I read reviews about the cashier being rude and not freindly and I fully agree and support that. It seems like its a popular spot, it was busy and people kept arriving, why not consider making it a larger space so people can sit and enjoy their food and it won'e feel like they're in a zoo.

Typically open until 1:00 a.m. during the week, this popular shawarma joint offers you a wide selection of huge shawarma wraps that are stuffed with pickles, tabbouleh, potatoes, and more. Keep in mind the atmosphere is very casual, since the dining area is more suited to a quick bite than a full-service meal. Be sure to try out the falafel sandwiches.
View this Smart ListCanada’s capital city showcases food from around the world and thanks to a large influx of immigrants of Lebanese heritage there are now shawarma joints on every street corner. Locals will happily share their personal favourites but Shawarma Palace on Rideau Street is arguably one of the city’s best. If you’re dining with a group, tuck into generous platters of shaved meat, fresh salad, earthy hummus, potatoes and the most ethereal garlic sauce. A chicken platter with pita bread easily serves two. Paired with canned or bottled drinks, a family of four could feast for less than $60.
