An Excellent Indian Restaurant

My Fiance and I love to go out for dinner and visit here at least once a month. It is an inexpensive place with excellent service (the meal is always served quickly...we have never been left waiting and sometimes even chat with the owner while we wait). If you like hot and spicy, try our fav, dansak chicken. It's moist with a sweet and sour, hot and spicy flavour...you can't go wrong. As for the earlier review about the doors not being open at 5 sharp, it has happened to us as well but we are fairly down to earth and are patient enough to wait 5 minutes longer for a great meal and could care less. This is not a fancy looking place, a bit worn but comfortable enough with a touch of india decor. The only complaint I have overall are the bathrooms...in need of a reno. Two thumbs up none the less!

This is my favorite restaurant in Ottawa, and my favorite Indian restaurant anywhere; I've never had a dish here that I didn't like. I'm spoiled -- whenever I wind up at another Indian place, I'm disappointed. I try to have lunch here once a week or so. The meat dishes are always tender, and the sauces are always nicely spiced. The Nan is great, always hot and fresh. A lunch-sized portion is priced very reasonably, cheaper than the buffets at other restaurants, and much higher quality.

We have been eating here and sharing it with friends & colleagues for 11 years. The consistencey of the flavours and presentation is the reason NO ONE has been disappointed. We have introduced this restaurant to maybe over 100 people.

We arrived at the Restaurant at 5 PM at the time...

We arrived at the Restaurant at 5 PM at the time the Restaurant is supposed to open and the door was locked. After a while the lone employee who was there came to the door and said the staff hadn't arrived and added that they were never on time. We waited in the car until 5:10 and were just leaving when the man I believe to be the Manager arrived. We left anyway. If the restaurant is supposed to be open at 5 PM the staff should already be there. Not only is this disrespectful but it leaves the impression that it will take a long time to get your meal if the staff arrives at the same time as you. We had not been to Mukuts for a long time and unless they make an effort to rectify this situation we will be reluctant to return.
