I tried this place out recently and loved the food. Highly recommend the cantonese noodles and the chicken wings that you get for free.
Your average north american style chinese restaurant. Nothing particularly good or bad about the quality, quantity or price of the food. I have a bit of a concern about the cleanliness of the place - notice how the tables are always "smudgy" - on one occasion I brought in part of a newspaper to read while I was waiting for my order. When my food came and I put the paper down, it actually stuck to the tabletop and tore as I tried to peel it off. I can only hope the kitchen is cleaner.
A common Chinese restaurant could be improved with the interior designs, the hours they work and the choices of food combination. They could have a special of the day which could help. I had the shanghai Delight, it was delicious after one bite it just made me wanting more. Lots of food depending on the order. would be best if they described on their menu what they put in each food so the understanding could be better for example "Mark's special duck" what is it that makes so special how is it prepared? etc. Some things are good and some are not too special.
This place is hands down the best Chinese food I've bought in all of Hamilton. I been to plenty of Chinese food restaurants in the city . But nothing compares to Marks. I see in other reviews people were dissatisfied how long their delivery took. You have to understand that there is only 1 delivery guy for a 500 000+ populated city. i was ticked off that it took almost a hour for my order. But once it arrived. Well worth the wait. Eating there is a different story. No windows. But that's okay. Food was made quick. Roughly 15 mins. I like small family orientated restaurants like this one. Once you go big. you lose the service.
My family and I have been going to Mark's for over 30 years now. It's a quiet, quaint little restaurant where you are never dissappointed with the quality of food they make. Nothing has changed in 30 years, even the same table and chairs. Which is the way it should be.
I went to Mark's this weekend and ate in. The food was really declious. My two friends and I went there after spending the day out. I really enjoy that dinner i spent with them. The food was fresh, well porportioned and well priced.
I had wanted to patronize a Chinese restaurant in my general neighbourhood but Mark''s will not be the restaurant of choice. Pretty bad.... We ordered take-out - first big mistake. The dark interior of the restaurant isn''t too inviting so we opted for take-out. We waited an hour and a half for delivery. After a hour had passed we called and were told it was ''on the way''. The home where we were eating is about 3 blocks from the restaurant!! The food was mediocre standard North American style Chinese food. The food was cut mainly in huge chunks, rather awkward to manipulate with chopsticks. The batter on fried items was thick and salty. We had ordered S & S chicken balls, steamed rice, pork fried rice, soo chow scallops (scallops encased in above mentioned batter - rotten thing to do to a delicious sea scallop!), Cantonese chow mein. I will neither be eating in the restaurant nor ordering take-out from Mark''s again. Thus ends my first and last visit.
The hardest part was ordering the food. It becomes really hard to understand them. I had to call 3 times because the lady hung up on me . This lack of communication is what brought their overall rating down but other than that the food it delicious!
excellent give her a shot, good dumplings, and always warm and on time
It's great chinese food. Not fancy, just good eats!
Believe me, it is some of the best Chinese Delivery available in Hamilton, however, of late the delivery has not been as swift as it can be. There is only one delivery guy for all of Hamilton (poor soul). Aside from the time it takes to get the food, the flexibility of your meal is a nice accessory. (You can swap out Beef with Mixed Vegetables for something else like Chicken)
Beef and Veggie lo-Mein were fabulous. cant wait to order again.
i pickup and its always readily quickly and tests fresh made and hot
The food is amazing!, but the service wasn't. I had to wait almost one hour after the time they said it would be ready. I will go again, but not when they are so busy. Marco
