First I will say that I have high expectations of an Italian restaurant because I live in the Corsa Ittalia neighbourhood in Toronto where we have many great Italian resturants.
Overall the food here was very good, although I would say that the bruschetta was just adequate and my husband agreed. I would suggest adding a thin paste of black olive tapenade to the bread before adding the tomatoes (so yummy).
The warm fruit and nut salad, the broccoli soup and the gnocchi were all very good.
The decor could be updated, but the owners were very friendly and the food was good. I would recommend this restaurant.
We love the personal service we ALWAYS get at Paul and Cheri's. They cater to my 3 yr old daughter and make her feel very special, the spagetti and meatballs will satisfy the pickiest kid! I can't order anything other than the tenderloin with gorgonzolla cream sauce...I love it! The price mark-up on the wine is fair also.
calamari was very chewy( definitely not cooked properly )
chicken was very dry and bland
I ordered my steak medium rare it was welldone
vegetables were fine
tiramisu was good
wine was okay
service was a little slow
Thanks Paul for a wonderful night. As usual everything was fantastic. You made us feel like we were the most important people in the restaurant. As always, great food, great atmosphere, great value and great service. The added touches you provide are hard to find anywhere else. We always come away appreciating the fact that such a great restaurant is so close to home in Georgetown. See you soon.
First time to Mattina's. Service was excellent. The calamari was chewy alsmost like the oil wasn't hot enough when it went in. The stuffed chicken was bland and a little dry. My husband said the steak was average. The sides were perfectly cooked not too hard, not too soft and very tasty. Dessert was excellent and again service was great.
Definatly put the effort into the food, with a few minor changes this would definatly be on our list of favourites in g'town.
