The Royal York Hotel, The Fifth, Susur, Eigenseinn Farm and the final two years of his journey as the Sous Chef at Oro Restaurant before opening Blacktree. Now that Blacktree has opened, the response and press have been generous.
We've been wanting to try this place for some time, and we finally got the chance. The food was very good, certainly on par with restaurants in TO. The service we received however did not match the food quality. Our particular server (Cliff) was arrogant and pretentious and did not make us feel particularly welcome. It took an inordinate amount of time for us to receive our meals and it was clear to us that we were not as important to him as some of his other customers.
I would like to come back for the food, but hopefully, the service improves to match the outstanding food.

Some of the most unique dishes I've experienced. Excellent choice for those tired of the usual fare. This restaurant will challenge your senses! I thought our server was joking that he was bringing me an olive/potato/plum sorbet - not only did it work - it was brilliant. The desert consisting of variations on beets was genius. I'll be back again.
