With its citrus-coloured contemporary décor, a wide-selection of Asian dishes and specialty drinks, it’s easy to see why Rice Bowl Deluxe is popular. Step into the restaurant at lunch or dinner time, and you’ll join a throng of foodies waiting to get their ‘Rice Bowl-fix.’
In 2007, the brother and sister team Leon Luke and Nancy Fung cooked up a unique concept: To select the best dishes from a range of Asian cuisines and offer them together under one roof. According to Nancy, their dedication to creating quality food with fresh ingredients resulted in years of, “refining recipes thousands of times” before they were satisfied. Now, the team also has a third family member, Luke’s wife, Susan, to help them run the show and bring about fresh ideas.
One of those ideas is separating themselves from fast food restaurants. They consider themselves a casual dining establishment with affordable prices, one that is “quicker than a sit-in restaurant,” adds Susan. Their dishes are made fresh and, “our sauces are made from scratch with our own recipes,” says Nancy.
If you have a hankering for Asian cuisine, but can’t quite decide, this family-owned business serves up piping-hot rice (and noodle) bowls in a variety of cuisines including Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai and Korean. Customize your bowl with white, brown or coconut rice. Try the black pepper crispy noodle, or the green curry bowl and end your night on a sweet note with a bubble tea or frozen yogurt.
