I went to this place for the first time last night after hearing alot about it ( a place that only serves tartar ....GREAT)
The restaurant itself to start with has a great feel. The drink selection is great ( try the rhum and cherry coke :) )
The tartare selection is fun because you can choose different types of tartars with different preparations.
Finally , for people who do not eat tartar or want something else, they do have to my surprise COOKED items on the menu as well :)
I am definetly going again ( very soon)
We had to throw in a casual pick in the midst of our upscale list. Marché 27’s downtown location – Phillips Square to be precise – works as a quick lunch option. Start with one of a dozen raw animals ranging from salmon and tuna to beef and duck; next pick a style – French, Italian, Thai, Japanese and more – and finally add a side of veggies or chips.
Marché 27 is a tartare restaurant in the Plateau where you can create your own tartare combinations by choosing the base, whether it’s meat or fish, and then the style in which it is prepared. Tuna, lobster, scallops and salmon are just some of the raw seafood options that can be made in various styles. Marché 27 isn’t just about raw seafood though, they also serve grilled black tiger shrimp, and braised octopus in a miso broth. They also have a food truck roaming around Montreal and two express locations downtown.
Marché 27 is a tartare bar where you can mix and match different meats with different styles. Try the Ahi tuna, prepared the tropical way, with pineapple, melon, tomatoes and lime if the mood suits, or go with the veal prepared in the Russian style, with vodka, beets, onion, tobiko and more. Can’t decide? The tasting platter offers four different tartares at a fixed price.
