This is a great place to learn and practice Aikido.Having been away from that Art for awhile the Instructors are all very patient and make sure you are brought "up to speed". This dojo places a lot of focus on the tradtions of Aikdo but also stresses the practicality of the techniques in real life situations. Everything is kept very clean and in order. It is situated on a main road, easy to find with good parking. Highly recommended! .
You will not find better aikido instruction anywhere else. If you are also interested in learning traditional weaponry such as wooden staff, sword and knife, this is the place. Aikido Canada also offers iaido, the art of the samurai sword. To my knowledge this is the only dojo that has japanese sword training in Essex county. With an excellent staff of instructors, and Kevin Blok as the head instructor, you find the quality of instruction is fantastic.
Thinking of beginning a martial arts class? Then Aikido Canada is the dojo I would recommend for men, women and children. As a progressive martial art, Aikido is perfect for adults and children who want to learn effective self-defense, while developing self-control and inner strength. You will develop skills to turn an aggressor's actions into your own techniques to better control the situation. You will also learn how to present and handle yourself with assertiveness, confidence and poise both in the dojo and your everyday life. As Aikido is a non-competitive martial art, Aikido Canada's dojo provides a welcoming atmosphere where everyone is comfortable training together while earning belts at their own pace and supporting their fellow students. Instructors are extremely knowledgeable, passionate about Aikido and committed to helping you develop your skills to the best of your personal ability and beyond. I would highly recommend this dojo. OSU!
I started training shortly after my 48th birthday two years ago, I am now three belts from my Black. Aikido training can be started at any age, if you can apply 3 pounds of pressure with your hand, you can do Aikido. The instructors are all very humble and helpfull. They have helped me to do things I doubted myself. I think the school's 31 year history in Windsor speaks for itself!
Great instructors Clean Dojo Co operative atmosphere Friendly enviroment
This is a great place and organization to train at, get support during your training and developing life long friendships.
The dojo condition here makes it a pleasure to train in and the instruction my daughter receives is very disciplined and taught by a true professional and master in every sense of the word. The instructors ways truely do get passed on to his students who are serious about learning the martial arts. An awesome experience to train and learn here with the company of a lot of great people.
The Sensi's/Staff at Aikido Canada (Chudokan Dojo) work very well with children to teach them self defence in a positive and fun environment. My oldest son has been training there for the past 7 years (since he was 4 yrs old) and has benefited in count-less ways from being in that environment on a regular basis, exhibiting improvements in; coordination, strength, flexibillity, self confidence, leadership, focus, patience, self-control, respect and pride in personal achievement. My younger son (7yrs) has also been enrolled for the past 2 years and is beginning to exhibit improvements in these same traits as well. ......All of this, while having fun and making new friends along the way - Thank you Aikido Canada !!
I went for martial arts training, but got that and much more. This is the ultimate self improvement course. Learning how to contol attackers starts with learning self control. Warm up exercises can be a little intimidating at the first class, but they don't change and are easy to learn. If you are looking for a safe entry into the world of martial arts, this is the place to start.
I have been a student at Aikido Canada (Chudokan Dojo) since 2009. Having studied other martial arts at various times throughout my life, I can honestly say that Aikido Canada has gone above and beyond my expectations in terms of quality training and attention to detail. Kyoshi Kevin J. Blok has done an excellent job of creating a non-intimidating environment where people of any background can study and learn. His curriculum of Yoshinkan Aikido is layed out in a very logical and progressive manner from white belt ranking all the way through black belt. Furthermore, he does an excellent job of answering any questions a student might have in regards to the art of Aikido, the history of Aikido, the philosophy behind Aikido, and many other subjects. Making the choice to be a part of this organization has helped me gain confidence, assisted me in making critical business decisions, and given me a desire to take on larger challenges in life. I recommend a membership at Aikido Canada to anyone looking to develop these characteristics, and much more.
It is in the functional institutions of society that teaches our children how to "be" in the world. With the diversity of opinion amongst the who and how this will get done leaves us with much unnecessary conflict. Aikido Canada focus is on the relationship between two people, not two rivals. Assisting conflict in finding a natural resolution rather than forcing ones own opinions on another. Giving the practitioner the freedom to build their own image of themselves with the confidence and personal perspective that only he or she can have. I have always believed, If you want to be a certain way in your life, you need to surround yourself with the people you most want to be like.
I have been attending the Chudokan for over 18 years and I travel from Michigan to do it. There are closer aikido dojos to my home but I continue to put up with the hassle of border-crossing because I know I will have the ultimate experience at the Chudokan. The instructor, Kevin Blok is the quintessential martial arts instruction, always looking for ways to improve his students physically, mentally and spiritually. The focus of the dojo is self-improvement and the atmosphere is challenging yet friendly and supportive - without the macho bolgna often present in a martial arts dojo. I cannot reccommend this dojo and this instructor enough. It has changed my life!
Sensei Kevin Blok is probably the highest ranked Yoshinkai Aikido instructor in Canada. Yoshinkan Aikido in turn is one of the most practical styles of Aikido, it is the martial art taught to Tokyo riot police in Japan. I move all over the world and train whereever I happen to live. And this is the most welcoming dojo I've seen so far. Great atmosphere, great instructors. The people I train with here become my extended family.
All the instructors are very talented, friendly, knowlegable and quick to help you. The facility is large, clean and well kept. There is free off-street parking and spacious changerooms and showers. The fees are some of the least expensive around and they offer classes day and evenings as well as weekends for men, women, children and the whole family. They constantly have other activities outside of the school and bring in many interesting and fun special guests. It is very much like a family community there. Fantastic place
Martial arts training for everyone, not just the young. This facility is located along a major bus route, has good access for parking and provides classes over a number of days and time slots. There are good sized change room and even showers for the serious students. Adults and children are welcome and the children's classes are very well attended. Aikido training provides more than just self-defence and physical fitness. The focus of this school is to teach martial training for use in your daily life, in areas of personal respect, confidence building, self-esteem in your inter-personal relationships such as work and in the community and greater tolerance for new ideas and concepts you may encounter every day. Combine this with a social focus on outside activities for its members and you've got a product that any other gym or fitness center could not hope to offer.
