Been going for lunch every few weeks for many years. Consistently very pleasant & prompt service & delicious chicken vindaloo. The best Indian food I have ever had in a nice personal independently owned gem of a restaurant. Love it.
What can I say, Orleans isn't the culinary capital of Canada but, there are a couple of bright spots and this is definately one of them! We often order the dinner for two, which gives you several curry dishes, tandori chicken, dal soup, nan bread and desert all for under $20 each. Lunch is also a good value, many specials to choose from. Owners are on site and very friendly, food is consistantly great and served hot. Excellent selection of sweets. I am hard pressed to find Indian food as good at a similar price!
We go often for lunch. You get a really great meal for a really great deal :-) I agree with others that if you come for dinner, its the same stuff just much more expensive, which is why I only go for lunch. The staff (one in particular) seems a bit standoffish (or at least always in a rush and seems like she wants you to just hurry up and order), but once you get to know her and chat with her a bit, she's actually really nice.
Not being a connoisseur of Indian food but liking it since going to England, we tried this restaurant for dinner. It has become a place we continue to come back to. We have been to others in Ottawa and found them to be pretensions or expensive. (I cannot understand why a good Indian food buffet restaurant at lunch becomes and expensive place for dinner?) The food is well explained, made to order so you are not surprised by the varying levels of heat and, the servers understand you are not always cognizant of all the dishes and help you with choices. I have recommended this place to many people and have not had an negative feedback from anyone.
We really enjoyed the food and the personnel was friendly. We will go back again for sure and you should too.
We absolutely LOVE Rangoli's Lunch specials-nowhere can u get so much food for $7.99 - you pay that in Food Courts and dont get even half of it! You get Raita (yoghurt-to cool any spiciness) Rice, Naan, Side curry, and 1 choice of entree (I always chose Lamb Korma and My husband always takes Chicken Saag or Chicken Vindaloo) I love going there on Tuesdays as they have Karhi as a side dish-which is a yummy Punjabi yoghurt based dish you eat with rice with some pakoras in it... try the Chana Bhatura - fluffy pastry type fried bread HUGE-with chick pea curry, pickle (indian pickle-very diff form the 'Canadian' pickle), and onions perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon-order a sweet Lassi and you will not be disappointed! after that you go home and enjoy an Indian afternoon siesta-for a perfect Sunday! :)
The Lunch special is outstanding. You get a main Curry dish (I get chicken Korma, it's the best), a side curry (usually a vegetable one), rice, the yogurt stuff and naan. All this for under $10 ($7.99 plus tax). It's a great deal. For Dinner though it's brutal. Like $10 to $15 a dish and maybe twice the size of the lunch portion. Kind of hard to share with people... One server is very very nice and one is not. Hope you don't get her, she'll talk to you like you're an idiot if you don't know how something is served. Sorry, I work in Orleans not Calcutta...
I had high hopes for this restaurant after recommendations. After trying it for the first time, I can say that I was not impressed. The butter chicken itself was sour, as if too much tomato paste/sauce was used and not enough cream. From other experiences at other reataurants, the butter chicken should have been rich and creamy, not sour and thin. The basmati rice on the platter was cold. Not warm. Cold. The naan itself was too moist to have come straight out of the tandoor oven. It tasted as if it was made earlier and reheated via the microwave. Do youself a favour and find a new place for your Indian food fix.
We have been to this restaurant on 3 occasion and also ordered take out about 10 times. We have been 100% satisfied with the food all the time. Side note, it is a small restaurant and the owners can not control loud customers. SORRY Also, it is a bit pricy but I would rather pay a little bit more knowing the food is good than save $ for terrible food.........
Awsome place love the food its addictive best Indian cuisine in town
My friends and I go for lunch all the time at Rangoli. We think the food is fantastic and the owner is very friendly. We love Indian food and we find Rangoli’s the best in this end of town!
It was my first time having butter chicken and apparently i hit gold by getting it at Rangoli's. It was amazing. My boyfriend loves Indian and Asian food and so far its THE BEST butter chicken in town! The owner is really nice and she's really smart... she has a great memory
This is not a suitable place to have a nice quite diner. Very noisy, and the food was cold. It seemed as if the food was made in advance and left on the side. We had to wait atleast 45 mins for out food. I did not like the service. Very rude people.
Loved it all!!! The appetizers were very tasty and the main dishes were loaded with flavour. Will definitely go back!!
This is the best Indian food I've had in North America. My sister, who trained at the Cordon Bleu in Manhattan and lives in Westport, Connecticut, always asks to go to Rangoli first whenever she visits. Great food in an unassuming, but pleasant atmosphere. About $20 to $25 per person, without drinks, for a really full meal.
Food here is FANTASTIC! I would eat here again and again. The food is great although the beer prices are high. Fantastic food! Keep up the great work
