A great place for sushi! I've been to many sushi places, and it's been hard to find one that can compete with my favourite, I love the Spicy Crab Roll, Sweet Potato Roll, Crab Sashimi, and Sushi Pizza. fast friendly service.good value!
I'll start by saying that the quality of food here is acceptable. In fact, even more than acceptable when considering that the lunch all you can eat is $13.
The fact is that this restaurant's problems don't really come from the food itself. Rather, the lack thereof. Nearly every single time I come here I have to jump through hoops to get what I want.
The servers are incredibly unfriendly starting from our beginning "welcome". The staff is incredibly cold and distant for the entire experience. Simply no frills--they are here to get you in and get you out; there are no attempts at being polite or even remotely personable.
Sometimes I don't mind this as long as the service itself is speedy and accurate. Unfortunately Mika has neither of these qualities. As you continue to eat, they become slower and slower with delivering your food. It's also incredibly likely that they will simply not give you several of your items (I assume this is because they presume their average customers are uninformed/ignorant and that the missing food will simply go unnoticed). Thankfully I have decent knowledge of Japanese foods and their English equivalents, so I will notice when I do not receive something.
They have a habit of deciding when THEY think you've had enough to eat. After a certain point, if you want to order more, they will give you a hard time when you try to put through your next order sheet. They will reluctantly accept your order but you can be guaranteed that the service will be dreadfully slow and your order will likely come incomplete.
I had garbage and empty plates pile up gradually as my meal went on. The waitress did not care to take any of these things away even when she brought us food. You will not be approached regarding drink refills, and you can bet that you'll have a hard time approaching them because they do all they can to avoid you unless they are bringing you food. No one came to check on us to see how we were doing. I got so thirsty at one point that I had to go the bathroom and drink their tap water.
Another thing. None of our sushi came with wasabi, which is unheard of for a sushi restaurant.

In short: you come here and pay the relatively low prices. You eat the decent food while trudging through the bare minimum service. If you are here purely for the food, there are many many better alternatives in Oakville. If you are here even remotely for good service, you are wasting your time. If you are here solely for a low cost meal, then you shouldn't have an issue.
Good sushi place and probably the usual one I will go to in Oakville.
The only problem I have with these guys is the amount of rice they put on their sushi rolls, some of them are so big you have to take two bites instead of one.
Other then that the food is great and the sushi is fresh.
If they clean up on the amount of rice they put on their sushi rolls I can honestly say this would be a sushi restaurant I would come to often.
We went there many times and were never disapointed. They have great rolls, sushis were always good and fresh.especially the sashimi very fresh. The service is prompt and upbeat. We will definetly go back!
The tuna sashimi tasted suspiciously 'fishy'. Sure enough, that night, we felt the effects of less than fresh fish. The rolls were mediocre. It was a busy Friday night and they were understaffed so service was extremely slow.
Good food, reasonable service, reasonable price.
Just watch the bill though, they slip a 10% tip ontop of the taxed total without telling you about it and seemingly regardless of the number of people. We were a family of 4.
No problem tipping it's just that most people would not have noticed and would have left a tip ontop of that.
The portion size of the sushi is very good, and the taste is delicious!!! The price of approx. $16 for all you can eat is fair, especially for the quality of the food! The service is friendly and prompt. The restaurant is quite small, but very clean and well maintained. In the all you can eat menu, the crunchy roll, spicy salmon maki, spicy udon soup, miso, & tempura shrimp are the best in my opinion.
All You Can Eat in the heart of Oakville.
The other day I was looking for an all-you-can-eat sushi in the Oakville area. After stumbling around various search engines, I happened to come across Mika Sushi. Seemed like there was some good things to say about it, so I stopped by for dinner on Wednesday night.
On first impression, you would think it was not meant to be. The restaurant is small. Maybe four booths on each side a three tables in the middle. However the staff is great and their sushi chef does an excellent job. They offer all-you-can-eat as well as a la carte. Being the type of person who likes to try a little of everything I went for the former.
The food was great. I had several different rolls as well as some items from the kitchen. One thing to note is if you are eating by yourself, the portions tend to be a bit large. For example, one order of the Mika rolls was eight pieces. They were quite tasty however and in all items I found the meats and fish to be nice and fresh and flavouring was excellent. Tempura wasn't as crisp as I like. However everything was good and served with attention to appearance.
When I came in around 5:15-5:30, there was only one other table occupied. However when I left by 6:45, all the tables were full and there was a steady takeout business as well. Good sign for a Wednesday, so hopefully this is a sign the business will continue to flourish.
As with all AYCE sushi, try to get several copies of the order form at the beginning of your meal and then when your order arrives you can have your next order ready. Otherwise you usually have to flag the server down if you want to order more. Also standard practice is charging you for any leftovers and adding a tip to the bill automatically.
I found the server was pretty good, although I was seated right next to the sushi counter. So he could tell when I was done.
Price for dinner during the week is $18.99.
Sashimi and maki rolls were really good. Great prices for All-You-Can-Eat or a la cart menu. Interesting selection of specialty rolls. Servers were attentive and extremely polite. I've been waiting for a decent AYCE sushi restaurant in Oakville for years so I'm thrilled that this place has opened up. I would recommend it to anyone and will definitely return.
This restaurant is a gem! I make Mika my sushi restaurant of choice almost every weekend and have never had any regrets. The servers are always friendly and polite and the service is always quick. (Unlike other sushi restaurants in the area). The menu is large and has many different dishes. While I mainly order sushi, I make it a point to try something new every time. The udon/soba noodle dishes and stir-fried rice dishes are also delicious (this makes Mika perfect for those new to sushi).
Last, but not least, is the quality and freshness of the fish, SIMPLY SUPERB!
My wife is Japanese and I lived in Japan for 3 years and this restaurant by far is the best sushi restaurant in Oakville. They actually prepare the rice very well. It's how the rice is prepared that makes the sushi. We love this place!!
