When many family-owned cattle ranches across North America were closing down or struggling to survive, the Hopcott family in Pitt Meadows took a leap of faith eight years ago, opening a grocery store featuring beef that is raised on their own farm, slaughtered in Pitt Meadows, and dried and cut in their own shop.
In 1932, Fred Hopcott started farming in Pitt Meadows. Now, three of his grandchildren — Jenn, Travis and Brad Hopcott — continue the family’s agricultural tradition, albeit in the modern, one-stop grocery store Hopcott Premium Meats.
