The worst service I've ever experienced....I went here last week for a Christmas party. The service was absolutely TERRIBLE. We had a large party of 16 people so you would think the service would be decent, to say the least, especially if they are forcing a 15% gratuity for a large party. Our server was not friendly at all and our food came out cold. One member in my party asked for salt and pepper and our server's response was "we ran out of salt". Umm... what restaurant runs out of salt?! Another guest asked for extra tatziki sauce and our server's response was "you will have to order another meal to get extra sauce". Another member of my party was asking our waitress questions regarding the menu and then when a different member of our party went to the washroom, an older gentleman said to him "Why are you asking so many questions and hasseling my server". Very rude, especially considering these questions pertained to the menu! Our food was not served all together so a few people in our party received their food when the majority of us were already done our meals. Considering it is the holidays and many people are eating out, you would think that management would staff extra servers but in this case, our server was the only one serving numerous tables, so she appeared very flustered and rushed. You couldn't pay me to eat here again. I've eaten out a lot and eat out frequently and this is by far one of the WORST experiences I've ever had. The quality of the food was mediocre but I've had better for a cheaper amount. Needless to say, my Christmas experience was negatively tainted by the horrible experience.
Vassilis definitely makes one of the best roast lambs in any Greek restaurant I've been to in the lower mainland. Even their lamb souvlaki is delicious (and huge!). We recently went in for takeout during lunch. When we tried to order the roast lamb, we were told that their roast lamb is not available until after 4:30pm. Huh? Just a month or two back we were successful in ordering it for lunch takeout. I hope this isn't a policy change. The waitress was polite but not super friendly. The decor of the place looks essentially like any Greek taverna with a few extra touches (like real jasmin flowers). Vassilis' menu is definitely on the expensive end of Greek restaurants. It costs around $4 more than your average price for any dish. For the occasional indulgence in REALLY good Greek food, it's worth it though. But take note to go there just for the food and don't expect much else.
like the other reviews they don't posses any customer service skills. The management should be fired from that establishment. I have nothing against the staff as they are told what to do. Also the food its at its worst quality. I've paid for service and food that was not provided
We thought we'd give this ( previously our favorite restaurant) another try after giving up on it last year, after a succession of deteriorating meal experiences. The service has never been great at this restaurant, they've had a few good waitresses over the years, but the owner and his brother leave you with a bad experience. Tonight our saganaki and spanokopita came barely warm, & the cheese was not melted. When we told the waitress, she took them away, and brought the very same ones back at the same time as our meals. The garlic prawns were more oil than garlic; the roast lamb was hot enough but has lost it's fabulous flavour that it had been known for, for years; the green beans looked great but were cold; the greek salad was chunky, tasteless and lacking in feta, with no olives insight; & they forgot my potatoes . It took 15 minutes to get our bill, when it wasn't busy in the restaurant, and there were no apologies or credits given. 3 strikes, you're out, we won't return. We'll continue to tour Greek restaurants in North Burnaby, that are much better.
this was our worst experience ever in a restaurant. The service was very poor well it was below poor and the food was OK but the management was very unprofessional. We will never return!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The staff was very pleasant. The best Greek salad ever lots of feta and olives not just a couple. Chicken was tender and fantastic portions again. Would definetly go back. Thank you for supurb food.
The ambiance was very nice, Pleasant staff, Food was excellent. Lamb was done to perfection and portions were extremely generous. Thank you for some terrific food.
My friend and I visited Vassilis Souvlaki Greek Taverna 6322 Kingsway, Burnaby, BC on Wednesday June 20th at around 7pm. We got greeted by an older gentleman and sat on the patio. We did request a high chair for my girlfriend 1 year old baby, but at that time was not available. We waited about 5-10min for a waitress to come and greet us. Once she arrived she did apologise for being late but she did say that there are under staff and are behind in orders. She took our orders which were: My friend ordered Calamari Dinner with no rice and salad on the side. I ordered the same dinner but with rice. We also ordered a ½ litter of white wine. The waitress informed us that this is too much of us to want and is not sure the kitchen will make that request maybe if we pay extra and why do we want the salad on the side?!, but she said she will try. After waiting 10 minutes our waitress arrived with our wine and told us that the kitchen is mad with our request and will not prepare it the way we the customer want it. We said that would be fine and we asked how long we’ll wait for the food the answer was 15min. It’s now 7:50pm we’re still waiting for our food…… We saw a lady leaving the restaurant with a baby and told us that the high chair is now available. My friend asked the older gentleman for a high chair as there is one available. He told her and what you want me to do? My friend got upset frustrated with this guy and came over to the table and said to me WE ARE NOT EATING HERE!!! Once we started packing up the older guy came by with the high chair and told us “I’ll do you a favour by letting you use this high chair as he doesn’t allow high chair on the patio” At his point we’re ticked off with the service we had experience. We ask for the manager and the older guy said to us “I’m the owner and if you don’t like it just pay for the wine and go”
