Hello, my name is Aly Simonsmeier. I came to Canada nine years ago to search for new experiences after a long career in emergency nursing and nutritional education in the UK.
I certainly found what I was looking for…
The love of my life, Andy, a local farmer whose family have successfully farmed in this area for over fifty years, selling grain and vegetables distributed all over the world.
I had the pleasure of working with special needs individuals, and people suffering with addictions whilst in Edmonton, and I welcome my staff from all backgrounds to be part of this very special team.
I have always had a passion for food (and wine) and have loved travelling to various countries sampling foods of the local culture.
My core beliefs, at this stage of my life, consist of a need to help others, to give as much of myself in gratitude for the wealth of opportunities I have been given. It is my hope that I can build a community, a safe place for all regardless of age, gender, or cultural background. A place where we can laugh, be educated, and enjoy the talents of our neighbours along with good food and a local beer or two!
I give thanks for my three beautiful children Joe, Kirsty, and Greg who have been my inspiration, and to Andy’s four children, Janine, Darren, Edward and Amy who have also offered their support in this venture. (Thanks Darren and Edward for the yummy hemp!) And, of course, to Andy who has put up with me over the last two insufferable years of planning.
A special thanks also goes to my hugely supportive friends, and Elaine Mulder, a designer in this area for over 30 years, who took my dream and made it into a reality.more...See more text
