Great place awsome food. Staff is very friendly.
it a good place to have a meal
This is a perfect stop for the working man or woman looking to get a great breakfast on the way to work. It may not be the classiest restaurant in town but I have been going there for 7 years and have not had to voice a complaint yet.........ok just one....paint the blue front door already!!!! The thing is that you would stop yourself from putting that much butter on your toast at home but at Butterballs it is expected.
This has to be one of the worst excuse for a restaurant me and my family have ever been to. We travel a lot and eat at many small family places like this. It is has an unfriendly and rude staff and the food is horrible and the place is dirty.
The french fries tasted like fish ..... milkshakes..there were big chunks in it not stirred properly... burger was ok ... i would only eat there again if i was really really hungry
We were unable to rate the food, as after waiting half an hour and watching everyone else in the room who arrived after us order, and get served, we were not longer able to wait. We asked a second server how long our meal would be, and was told a "couple of minutes". After another 5 minutes of waiting, and still no food, we made our way to the door as we had a prior committment. Instead of apologizing for the delay, they tried to make excuses by saying the kitchen was busy, (even though the other 3 parties that arrived after us were half way through their meals). Mistakes are understandable, and had they owned up to the fact that our order was missed, we would have been more understanding. Our waitress seemed quite indifferent about the whole episode, and was quite fine with charging us for the 2 coffees. It was a very bad experience, especially since the restaurant was highly recommended from an owner of one of the boutiques in Jordan Village.
The food is very inexpensive here and that is part of this restaurant's charm. You will see that it attracts many local seniors. The views of the escarpment from the large windows are beautiful. The restaurant decor itself is very modest. The menu options are not considerable and they would be classified as "comfort food". Don't look for Pad Thai here. Similarly, the beverages are typical ones. If you are used to Niagara-On-The-Lake restaurants when dining out with imported beer/wines, this is not the restaurant for you. It is a roadside diner. I enjoyed my food and the view out the window. The vegetables in the salads are fresh and local during the summer.
Did you ever see the old TV sitcom "Alice"? Mel's Diner was her fictional workplace, and this may be the closest replica Southern Ontario can offer. However, for breakfast, it is unrivalled. You'll need to compete for seating mind you,as the locals all seem quite aware of this fact. Servers are friendly and efficient if not sophisticated. This is not haute couture, but for breakfast as it's meant to be....Butterballs is without flaws. The scene from the window (Jordan Hollow) is picturesque at any time of year!
