Went with a friend who is absolutely in love with Jimmy's fish and chips. All the times shes went she's never gotten to meet Jimmy, the man behind the counter was very cheerful and quick service with a smile. After finishing the most delicious poutine I have ever tasted we asked if he was in fact Jimmy. With a cheer ful yes that started a 10 minute conversation about his business and he is happy to talk to anyone about anything. Took a few flyers as we both work in business's where customers need take out menus and he was very very appreciative, more than anyone. He rely's on the highschool students, but also the families at night he was telling us. He says business is still great and the complaints are far from reoccuring. He's alwasy trying to add new stuff to the menu. We will definately be back again. Can't believe I live around the corner and have never been!!
Wow! The size of the order was incredible. Definantly the best bang for your buck! Jimmy's poutine is the best I've ever tasted. The Halibut was great too. I took it to go but would have no problem eating in as the restauraunt is clean and inviting. The staff were warm and friendly. 10's all the way around. I'll definantly be back!

Wow! Has this place tanked or what, batter used to be nice and crispy, not any more. Whats up with this guy used to be a hoot and now is just a grump. Big guy if it ain''t working out just shut it down. Sure beats folks talking about how good it used to be.

I have eaten a Jimmy's many times. he definately has the best poutine in town and now he has a 1/2 size ( the regular size is enough for 2 people). The fish is always a decent portion size and the fries are always done perfectly. Highly recommend as the best fish & chippy in town. Also has really good homemade italian ices.
This is the best fish and chip restaurant in Barrie by far! The frys were cooked perfectly and the fish and batter was delicious. They also have the best poutine in town and a large variety of flavours too! The cooks are also extremely friendly. Definately go here for your Fish and Chips.

Having gone to high school nearby, my friends and I were regulars at Jimmy's for lunch. I haven't been there since leaving school, but I remember the fries were always the best in town, and the owner (who often served you) was so friendly and fun. Compared to some of the other restaurants/stores in this plaza, Jimmy's was very welcoming to all the student who came in. I would definitely recommend the chips, as well as the deep fried ice-cream!

If anyone in my family happens to crave fish and chips, we head to Jimmy's. The fish is always cooked to perfection, the fries are the best anywhere, service is courteous and energetic, and they even have a great ice cream selection for the kids....or me.

The fish was fairly good. I've had better, but it was still a nice change not to get fish that is more batter than actual fish. The chips were good, even my co-diner that isn't a big fan of chips was pleasently surprised by them.
As for the service...this place is a little hole in the wall kind of shop...You go in buy your fish and you leave...but I tell you...the fella behind the counter was INCREDIBLE!!! I'm going to guess that he was the owner...but he was simply one of the nicest fellas I have ever had the pleasure to encounter in the service industry.
He was incredibly polite, jovial, and just one of those types that seem to have the gift when it comes to putting smiles on people's faces. There were several folks in and out at around the same time I was...and each one of them had the same reaction...they'd come in frowning or indifferent about how their day was going...and by the time they left, they were grinning from ear to ear.
Even if the fish and chips had been of questionable quality, I would have cut the place some slack simply because of the EXCELLENT service provided...thankfully the food was solid as well.
I wish this restaurant nothing but success as the years continue.
Well I must rate it low because of the fish batter. It totally turned me off because it was not crunchy...was like a wet paper towel wrapped around the small fish pieces. Also, I didn't know they had a 'snack' portion as it was my first visit so I just said an 'order' of haddock f&c. The 2 small pieces were really equal to a one piece order. The fish was nice and the fries were great but the size of the '2' fish pieces in a regular order and the batter on them were unlike anything I have ever had before. I doubt I would go back and try it again.
